1. Notification Overview
Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), a Government of India Public Sector Undertaking,
invites online applications from experienced mining professionals for engagement
as Overman (Contractual) for its coal mining projects.
The engagement is purely contractual and intended to support DVC’s expanding
open cast coal mining operations across Jharkhand and Odisha.
2. About Damodar Valley Corporation
Established in 1948, Damodar Valley Corporation is India’s first multipurpose
river valley organization. Headquartered in Kolkata, DVC operates across
Jharkhand and West Bengal.
DVC functions as a vertically integrated power utility with diversified
operations in coal mining, thermal and hydel power generation, renewable energy,
power transmission and distribution, water resource management, and soil conservation.
DVC commenced its coal mining operations in 1951 and presently operates multiple
strategically important coal blocks with a combined peak rated capacity of
approximately 61 million tonnes.

5. Educational Qualification
- Diploma in Mining Engineering from a recognized institute.

Valid Overman Certificate of Competency issued by DGMS for Coal Mines
under CMR 1957 / CMR 2017.
- Valid First Aid Certificate issued by a DGMS-recognized institute.
6. Experience Requirement
Candidates must possess a minimum of three (03) years of post-qualification
experience as an Overman in Open Cast Coal Mines.
7. Age Limit
The maximum age limit shall not exceed 55 years as on the closing
date of the online application. Age relaxation will be applicable as per
Government of India rules.
8. Contractual Terms & Conditions
- Initial engagement for a period of five (05) years.
- Extension up to two (02) additional years based on annual performance review.
- No entitlement to regular or permanent absorption in DVC.
- Accommodation may be provided subject to availability (HRA not admissible).
- Medical facilities available only at DVC hospitals without reimbursement.
- Employee Provident Fund (EPF) provisions applicable as per statutory rules.
- Contract may be terminated by either party with one month’s notice.
9. Selection Procedure
Selection shall be carried out through Interview and/or Skill Test.
DVC reserves the right to conduct additional screening or trade tests, if required.
